The clients and staff at SAGE include artists working with various materials and mediums. We are building a SAGE Arts Collective to showcase and celebrate visual, performance, and literary art by members of the SAGE community.

SAGE also hosts creative writing workshops on a regular basis, where SAGE staff members and clients can gather to share readings, select topics for writing, and write! Participants may choose to share their work, or maintain it as a private expression.

Art and writing an be powerful pathways to support healing and insight, and survivor art is very powerful. Artwork and writing allow the artist to engage in both self-discovery and self-advocacy.

In survivor-sensitive programs, it's very important to provide a variety of opportunities for expressing the realities of the client's day to day life or creating art that helps them with what they're struggling with at the moment. Art and writing can also allow for the representation of trauma and experience that may be difficult to express in conversation.
